A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. An M.D., Ph.D. or equivalent in Medicine/Microbiology/Aerobiology with extensive experience in aerosol science, specifically aerobiology, is required. The incumbent will lead and conduct experiments aimed at understanding the behavior of biological aerosols. Designs, performs and interprets controlled aerobiology experiments, designing and employing novel technologies. The research focuses mainly on aerosols in the clinical and non-clinical environments. The successful applicant will be able to master techniques in polymerase chain reaction and other similar quantification methodologies. This position will be involved in the design of experimental protocols; collection, analysis and interpretation of data; preparation of oral and written scientific reports, such as presentation of results at local, state, and national meetings; composition of scientific manuscripts for submission to journals and writing grant applications; and interdepartmental seminars, journal clubs and local and national scientific societies. This position will also be expected to incorporate previous skills and knowledge into the evolution of experimental designs, methodology, data interpretations and pursuit of scientific goals. Previous experience in environmental monitoring of clinical settings is preferred.
