Position Summary
Responsible for the Endocrinology (DEM) Division’s fiscal and administrative oversight, and accountable to the Internal Medicine Chair, Department Administrator, and Division Chief for adherence to all UNMC and Nebraska Medicine policies & procedures. Coordinate the division’s business affairs, manage its non-faculty personnel, and work with UNMC and Nebraska Medicine regarding the division’s finances. Work with multiple partner organizations (UNMC, Nebraska Medicine, and the VA) to accomplish the educational, research and clinical goals of the department and division. Collaborate with the Division Chief on long range planning and development.

Required Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
General
1. General business acumen to include: common sense, good judgment, negotiation skills, financial statement knowledge including accurate interpretation and analysis, and ability to anticipate and forecast needs of the division
2. Effective written and verbal communication skills
3. Proficiency in analytic reasoning to formulate budgets and adhere to administrative policies and processes
4. Developing understanding of regulatory framework and internal controls (financial and compliance) and ability to apply them within the division
5. Ability to assess risk and problem solve by critically evaluating alternative courses of action and arriving at solutions that are best for division.
6. Understanding of human resource administration and related regulatory environment
7. Developing style of participatory leadership and fosters a climate of respect and collegiality to include competency regarding: conflict management, supervision, mentoring, and team building
8. Working knowledge of related technological resources/software to include enterprise systems and the MS Office suite
9. Demonstrated ability to develop basic contracts

Clinical
Developing knowledge of the following areas:
1. Ability to collaborate and manage across multiple organizations
2. Advanced understanding of health care financial management concepts
3. Understanding of principles, methods and procedures of modern health care administration and organization, including linkage systems with other health organizations
4. Knowledge of principles of modern outpatient care service management and coordination
5. Awareness of applicable federal, and state laws, rules and regulations related to clinical operation and professional fee billing
6. Knowledge of information systems, business processes and computer hardware/software, especially related to billing/collections for professional fees.
7. Administrative problems involved in the operation of clinic services

Research
Develop knowledge of the following areas:
1. Understanding of pre-award budget preparation and related regulations such as Medicare coverage analysis, coordination of IRB or IACUC protocols, justifications
2. Understanding of post-award administration including set-up process, reconciliation, regular review, progress reports and close-out process
3. Knowledge of and compliance with award-specific and relevant federal, state and local laws and regulations to include A-21 and A-133 requirements.
4. Understanding of strategic planning for research enterprise of division/department in collaboration with Chair or Division Chief
5. Ability to act as liaison with sponsors, subcontractors, and collaborators across the enterprise

Education
Developing knowledge of the following areas:
1. General understanding of academic program accreditation standards, academic services processes, and ability to interface effectively with information and reporting systems
2. Ability to interface effectively with student populations
3. General knowledge and awareness of educator and student rights and responsibilities
Preferred Education: Master's degree
